Kelly Murphy

Hello!  My name is Kelly Murphy and am part of the Ninth Grade Academy here at R.B. Stall High School.  I grew up here in Charleston. After graduating from FDHS, I attended Winthrop University, where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science (2004) in Biology, minoring in Chemistry, Anthropology, and Sociology.  Upon graduating, I returned to the Charleston area where I began teaching high school science in Berkeley and Dorchester counties, for 3 years. At that time I pursued a career as a Crime Scene Investigator with the North Charleston Police Department.  During my time with the police department, I returned to school and earned a Master’s of Arts in Biology from The Citadel (2008). It was upon earning that degree that I began to teach Anatomy and Physiology, part time, for Trident Technical College.

While teaching for several years at the college level, I realized how much I missed being in the classroom and working with young people.  I then decided it was time for a career change. So, after several years of working as a CSI, I returned to school, earning a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Biology, again from The Citadel (2017).  I joined the R.B. Stall family in the fall of 2017, and have never looked back. I love science, am a self proclaimed nerd, and love working with my students every day. I continue to teach at the college level, as an Adjunct Professor for Limestone College, however, the students at R.B. Stall are my true passion.

I love doing anything I can for my students!  I also love R.B. Stall! If I am not in my classroom, you can find me cheering on the warriors at a variety of sporting and other events, just listen for the cow-bell!  Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and three fur-babies (dogs) who are my children. If I am not cheering on my warriors, you can find me court side cheering on my volleyball obsessed niece while she is doing her thing.  I also love traveling and live for spontaneous road trips.

I look forward to all that my students will achieve this year, both in and out of the classroom.  I am so excited to work with each of them, and know great things are happening everyday. Today is a GREAT day to be a WARRIOR!
