SMSgt Gale Rickert

Hello, my name is Senior Master Sergeant Gale Rickert. I am originally from California where I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. I started as an Engine Mechanic at Mt. Home, ID and then cross-trained to Flight Engineer. I flew for 20 years on the C-141A and C-141B aircraft out of Travis AFB, CA and then Charleston AFB, SC.  I taught flight engineers for 15 years on how to safely do the job they were doing. I retired as the Chief Flight Engineer at Charleston AFB. I graduated Senior NCO Academy, Gunter AFB, Alabama, in 1999. I received an A.S. in Flight Engineering from Community College of the Air Force, 2000.

I have taught at R.B. Stall HS for 18 years as an AFJROTC instructor where I started out teaching first year cadets life skills. This was done through uniform wear and inspection where they learned attention to detail. They learned self-discipline and following directions by practicing drill. Classroom lessons taught them study skills, history of the Air Force, respect for the Flag, and The Constitution and branches of government. The last few years I have taught seniors and two years ago I started teaching juniors. The interaction I have with the cadets is an inspiration to me as I watch them develop into responsible young women and men choosing the path that is right for them.
